Himachal Pradesh with visit to Amritsar

Programme:

Day 01: Delhi - Shimla
In the morning departure from Delhi and a drive to Shimla. On the way, a visit to Yadavindra Garden in Pinjore, a beautiful Mughal garden built in the foothills of the Himalayas for Emperor Aurangzeb in the 17th century. Then a cable car ride to hotel Timber Trail with beautiful views of the Himalaya foothills. An optional lunch break. On arrival in Shimla check at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Shimla - Kufri
After breakfast, an excursion to Kufri, a small hill station located 20 km from Shimla. Kufri is famous for its Himalayan National Park and wild-life zoo which hosts rare antelopes, cats and birds including the Himalayan monal, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. You can enjoy a pony and yak ride while watching the endless Himalayan Panorama around. Return to Shimla and local a sightseeing tour – the Shimla mosques, the Vice Regal Lodge, the Christ Church, the famous Gaiety Theatre and the Scandal point with a beautiful view. Shopping activities in the well-known Mall Street. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Shimla - Manali
After breakfast, departure for Manali . On the way visit to the Pandoh Dam and the Hanogi Mata Temple. On arrival dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Manali
After breakfast, a full day tour of Manali – a visit to Vashisth Bath which is situated just 3 km from Manali. The sulphur springs gushing forth from the mountains here have great medicinal effects. A possibility of swimming in the Bath. Then visit to the Hadimba Temple which is one of the most important temples in the region,  Tibetan Monastery etc. The evening will be free for shopping activities on the mall road. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Rohtang Pass/Snow point

After breakfast, a visit to Rohtang Pass/Snow point, situated about 51 km from Manali at an altitude of 4,111 m (13,400 ft.). Here one sees the majesty of the mountains at its height and splendor. At the top of the Pass the air seems to glitter against the snow as you look down over herringboned ridges into the Lahaul Valley. There is a beautiful Doshohar Lake where pilgrims go every year on the auspicious day of 20th Bhadon. On the way, a visit to Kothi Gorge, Gulaba, Rahala falls, Marhi and Solang Valley and enjoy skiing, paragliding and other adventurous activities. Return to hotel by evening, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Manali – Dharamsala – McLeod Ganj

After breakfast, a drive to Dharamsala. On the way, a visit to Shiva Temple in Baijnath and a further stop at Palampur famous for its Tea Garden. Dharamsala is a hill-station lying on the spur of the Dhauladhar Mountains well-known for its scenic beauty. Since 1960, when it became the temporary headquarters of His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Dharamshala has risen to international repute as “The Little Lhasa in India”. Dinner and overnight stay in McLeod Ganj.

Day 07: McLeod Ganj - Dalhousie
After breakfast, a half day city tour of McLeod Ganj with His holiness Dalai Lama residence, Tibetan market, War memorial, Bhagsunath temple, Dal Lake and church of St. John. In the afternoon, a transfer to Dalhousie, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 08: Dalhousie
After breakfast, a full day city tour of Dalhousie which has been named after the British Governor - General of the l9th century - Lord Dalhousie. City is surrounded by varied vegetation - pines, deodars, oaks and flowering rhododendrons and has many things to offer. Visit of Panjipula waterfall, Subhash Baoli valley and Khajjiar hill station surrounded with hills, forests and meadows. This place is often called “Mini Switzerland” for its beauty. The drive from Dalhousie to Khajjiar is awesome. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 09: Dalhousie – Amritsar

Early morning breakfast and departure to Amritsar. On arrival, a transfer to Wagah village lying on the Indo-Pakistan border where a special ceremonial takes place every evening the “Wagah – Attari border closing ceremony”, which really is a unique experience. Return to Amritsar and in the evening a visit to the famous Golden Temple to see the “ceremony of the transmission of the holy book”. Overnight. 

Day 10: Amritsar – Golden Temple

Breakfast. Visit to the Golden Temple, which is most important place of the Sikh religion.  It is a spacious complex from white marble where a huge water tank lies inside and in the middle of it – like an island –the Harimandir itself shines. The temple is covered with copper plates gilded with many tons of solid gold. You can have lunch in a special Sikh canteen where almost 4000 people can eat together at one time. The next stop is the Wall of Martyrs where the Amritsar massacre took place, Amritsar Museum etc. Overnight. 

Day 11: Amritsar – Chandigarh

After breakfast, a drive to Chandigarh. In the afternoon a sightseeing tour in Chandigarh, the 1st planned modern city of India designed by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. The city was named after Chandi, the mother goddess of power, and has a really unique urban planning within all of Asia. The city was declared as UNESCO heritage site in 2016. Overnight stay in Chandigarh.

Day 12: Chandigarh – Delhi

After breakfast, a visit to the Rose Garden in Chandigarh with more than 800 species of flowers, trees and herbs. The garden is the largest of its kind in all of Asia. Return to Delhi.
