Skiing in Kashmir + beaches in Goa

Programme:

Gulmarg is one of the best ski resorts in Asia. The ski slopes are located on the hillside of Mt. Apharwat (4200 m) to which one of the highest cable cars (Gondola) in the world also leads the top station of which lies at a height of 3950 m. At the resort, you can also find one chair lift and 3 J-bar lifts for beginners. In the surroundings of the Gondola, you can find maintained ski slopes but skiers are mostly interested in skiing on natural snow. With an experienced instructor you can also go downhill skiing on a hardly accessible hillside and enjoy a real adventure. If you are interested, you can also use a helicopter for heli-skiing! The gondola has two stations. The first part is gentle, with the ski slopes among trees; the second part is steep and suitable for experienced skiers. The length of the maintained ski slopes is ca. 5 km.     

Day 01: Delhi – Srinagar

In the morning a flight from Delhi to Srinagar. Accommodation in a hotel and if there is time a short city tour of the old city of Srinagar with Friday mosque and many beautiful Sufi shrines. Dinner and overnight.

Day 02: Srinagar - Gulmarg  

Breakfast. Transfer to ski resort Gulmarg, lunch, accommodation in a hotel and first introduction to the resort. If you are interested, there is the possibility of the first skiing. Dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Skiing in Gulmarg

Breakfast. Skiing, lunch, dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Skiing in Gulmarg

Breakfast. Skiing, lunch, dinner and overnight.

Day 05: Skiing in Gulmarg

Breakfast. Skiing, lunch, dinner and overnight.

Day 06: Gulmarg - Srinagar

Breakfast. In the morning return to Srinagar. If there is time, a short city tour of Srinagar, local markets etc. Dinner and overnight.

Day 07: Srinagar – Old Delhi

Breakfast. In the morning flight to Delhi. Transfer to a hotel. In the afternoon a half day city tour in Old Delhi – the Friday Mosque, Red Fort (UNESCO) a short walk in Chandi Chowk square. Raj Ghat – place where body of Mahatma Gandhi was burnt. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 08: Delhi – Agra – Taj Mahal

Breakfast. Transfer from Delhi to Agra (approx. 3 hours). After arrival a city tour of Agra, former settlement of Mughal Emperors with its Red Fort (UNESCO) and the monumental tomb of Emperor Akbar (UNESCO). In the afternoon a visit to most famous tomb and symbol of love Taj Mahal (UNESCO). Return to Delhi and overnight.

Day 09: Delhi - Goa

Breakfast. In the morning flight to Goa, famous summer resort on the coast of the Arabian Sea. Goa is the smallest Indian state and a former Portugal colony. Arrival in the afternoon, transfer to a hotel, relax on the beach, free time at your leisure. Overnight.

Day 10: Beaches in Goa

Breakfast. Free time at your leisure on the beach or an optional tour in Old Goa:

A visit to the places, where an old colonial metropolis nicknamed for its opulence the “Rome of Orient” was located. Old Goa was founded in the 16th century and till today take pride in its Christian churches among which Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se cathedral, which is the biggest church in Asia, excel. Our tour will continue to the Hindu shrine Shri Mahalsa dedicated to the female incarnation of the god Vishnu and which presents an interesting fusion of Portuguese and Hindu architecture. It will be followed by a drive through a countryside and visit to one of the largest Goa plantations Sahakari with tropical fruits and spices. During a tour you will learn about growing tropical fruits and cloves, cinnamon, pepper, cardamom or vanilla. Our tour will be finished with a stylish lunch of local specialties served on banana leaf.  

Day 11: Beaches in Goa

Breakfast. Free at leisure on the beach or an optional elephant trip:

Shanti is small village in the middle of the forest close to Tambdi Surla, an ancient temple from the 13th century devoted to the god Shiva, which is famous thanks to its elephant farm. Our trip will begin with an elephant show where you will see elephants dance, draw or play football. This is followed by elephant ride and lunch. After that you can watch and also actively participate in an elephant bath. In the end you will visit the temple mentioned before.

Day 12: Beaches in Goa

Breakfast. Free at leisure on the beach or any other optional tour.

Day 13: Goa – Delhi  

Breakfast. Free at leisure on the beach. In the afternoon transfer to the airport and flight to Delhi. Overnight.

Day 14: New Delhi sightseeing + departure          

Breakfast. A full day city tour of New Delhi - Kutub Minar (UNESCO), the biggest brick minaret in the world and complex of buildings in early Afghan architecture. The Lotus Temple, the beautiful blooming Lotus flower shaped building. Humayun´s Tomb (UNESCO), the unique example of Mughal architecture. The India Gate and drive around Government buildings. In the afternoon shopping activities in a local market or other optional program according to your wish. Transfer to the airport and departure.
